The storms had passed by the time we woke up this morning so away we went. The morning fog surprised us a bit (really - everybody has fog like San Francisco/home???).
What shocked us was the WIND. Cutting our miles/gallon in half the engine pushed through the strong cross winds and big gusts. The Casita hung tight - bless that stabilization bar.
When we stopped for gas you had to PUSH the doors open. And then you had to be very careful not to let the wind slam the doors back on you. Tumble weeds tumbled everywhere and the windmills were dancing in the sky - it was a gorgeous drive. This is me all wind blown as I stepped out of the car.
As we drove across and across and across and across endless Kansas the temperature dropped from 57 to 37. We were traveling through the bottom of that polar wind that dumped the May 9 snow in Colorado and the its neighbors. The sun had dried and mostly melted things by the time we hit the Rocky Mt foothills. Just a few snow piles remained.
We are once again snuggled up for the evening - this time with my sister Claudia and her family in Boulder CO - Aunt Kass is reading the New York Times. I'm tied into their wireless and the laundry is on. Sweet Sunday. Thank you Barkmeiers - particularly Odin and Gizmo (picture below) the Barkmeiers' guest ambassadors.
